We are new to cruising and will be taking a 14 day Mediterranean cruise on the Summit in October. Our ports are Venice, Dubrovnik, Athens, Kusadasi, Naples, Rome, Livorno, Villefranche, and Barcelona. We have been reading a lot of information on the Internet about what to see in each port. Some cruisers take the ship excursions, while others hire tours at the sites. In some ports, people just go into town and do it on their own. Do you have any recommendations?
Hi Judy2323, welcome to Cruise-Chat. If you will look a little further down on the main page, you will see a section for Europe Port Chat and General Port Chat. By using your "Find" feature in the upper left hand corner, you can enter your port and it will pull up all the posts made about them. There are loads of different opinions about doing ship tours vs. doing them on your own. My personal feeling is, if I have not been somewhere before I stick with the ship tours, especially if I don't speak the language. It sounds like you're going to have a fantastic adventure. Best wishes and once again, welcome aboard!
