Hi. We will be taking our first cruise this Christmas aboard the Zenith to the Caribbean. The Celebrity website gives attire suggestions that seem less than casual for the "casual atmosphere" they portray for this smaller ship. What is the reality of how to dress especially for teenage boys? thank you.
You will find that with Celebrity they are a little more formal on formal and casual nights then Carnival or Royal. In fact on their daily newsletter you receive each night in your cabin they will post the dress code for the following night and ask that all please respect it for the ambiance of the night. Teen boys will be fine in khakis or dockers and a nice polo shirt or button down shirt for the casual night. For formal night dress slacks and shirt and tie is acceptable at the minimum if not a dark suit and tie. Celebrity does not allow anyone in the dining room at night in shorts and jeans.
If you have any other questions, ask away, you will find that this board has a lot of great informative information and helpful people to answer your questions.
Carol, thank you for your reply on the dress code for teens. How should teen's dress during the day when the ship is at sea and at port? thank you again.
I was thinking the same thing Chuck...to empahasize your teens do not have to wear dress suits to the pool swim suits shorts and t-shirts or what ever teens wear today while hanging out at the beach or whatever..is perfectly fine. Celebrity is just a little more formal in the evenings.
Okay....sorry. I meant swim suits. I find that other than evenings...most cruise lines are the same. Casual during the day and in ports. I usually spend a lot of time at the pool during sea days and don't change out of my (swim) suit until late afternoon.
I grew tired of the tux thing on formal nights long ago but do respect the cruiser who likes to do so. I guess when you cruise a lot it gets old.
I cruise to relax no look like a GQ model (not that a tux would help in my case.

I guess we do not cruise enough because we do enjoy the dress up nights. I even bought a white dinner jacket for our last cruise since I was in a black tux in all our formal photos. It was time for a change. Also, I love looking at Rita in her formal gowns!
p.s. - Freddy, how was the Zenith? That's our next one.
Thanks for the info, Freddy. It seems to be laid out similar to the Horizon. We really enjoyed that New Years cruise a couple years ago. We do like to dance, so how was the dance music and dance opportunities on the Zenith?
