My wife and I are sailing from Galveston to the Panama Canal on an 11 night cruise. We have been on two cruises before, one with Royal Caribbean (great) and one with Carnival (very bad, never again). How does Celebrity compare with them. We are both 23 years old, and someone told me that Celebrity is more for "old" people, is this true? Any help or tips would be great. Thanks...

You probably will find a little more "mature" group of fellow passengers, partly because it's Celebrity, but mostly because of the Panama Canal itinerary - longer ones usually attract more folks of retirement age. However, if you go with a positive attitude, you will still find much to enjoy. Smile

We are going with a positive attitude, both cruises we were on in the past, it seemed like we were very young compared to everyone else, and we still had a great time, it's all what you make of it I guess...how does Celebrity compare with other lines? I've heard good things...I hope they are true.

Celebrity is GREAT! Great dining, cabins, entertainment, attitude and everything else. You will have an older crowd on your sailing because of the length of the cruise and the itinerary. Like Karen said, if you go with a positive attitude, you will have a wonderful time.

Relax and enjoy the comfort, dining, sophistication and itinerary, and you will have a wonderful time.

Have a great cruise.

We sailed on the Galaxy from San Juan on a Southern Caribbean cruise in January 2002. We loved this ship and it was probably the nicest cruise we have been on. (We have also done Carnival, Norwegian, RCL, and Princess.) I thought the cruise was slightly better than Princess.

As others have stated, the crowd will be older on this cruise more because of the length than any other factor. That having been said, we have always found a wide range of ages on all of the cruises we have been on.

The Galaxy is a beautiful ship, although it is not the latest or greatest ship sailing. The service and dining on Celebrity are very good. If it was all of the partying on Carnival that put you off, then you will love Celebrity. If instead you are looking for a party cruise, then you may want to consider a different line.
