Hi: We are first time cruisers and have chosen the Western Caribbean cruise(Grand Cayman,Puerto Limon,Colon,Roatan,Cozumel) as our first cruise on the Celebrity Zenith due to specific time off. From what I have researched the Zenith is showing its age; is this true and should we be concerned? Can anyone provide information in regards to the cruise, the ship (Zenith) and any other helpful hints would be appreciated. Or if there is anyone else out there taking the same trip, email and we can exchange notes. Thanks to everyone for the help.

Celebrity just does not maintain thier ship's as well as most other line's. I think that when RCCL bought them out that the maintenace budget took a big hit. We sailed with Celebrity exclusively until a few years ago, and finally had enough. Our last cruise on the century,it was very run down and quite dirty. The Horizon was the pit's.Some people will say a bad day of cruising beat's a good day at work! I beg to differ. No more Celebrity for me. Tom

Hmmm, interesting statement since Celebrity just spent $55 million refurbishing the Century. The Zenith was refurbished in late 2005. I went on the Zenith in August 2005 and honestly I didn't feel it looked that bad even then. I think anyone can find something wrong on even the newest ships. When you consider the amount of people they carry on a weekly basis.
Bob51--Just know that the Zenith is an older and much smaller ship than the average ship out there on the seas. I found the food and service excellent, and the entertainment as well. The Zenith may not have an awesome atrium or all the bells and whistles of the newer ship, but she is a lovely ship. Have a great cruise.

Hi: thanks for the comments and will keep both in mind. Being a first time cruiser from Saskatchewan, Canada, it's hard knowing what your getting into. But we'll put our sun block on and roll with the punches and hopefully enjoy the cruise to it's fullest. Again appreciate the comments.

We may write a review, but feel free to email us. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, as well.

My wife and I took our first cruise on the Zenith in Jan 2006. I did a lot of research befor booking the cruise and decided that Celebrity fit the bill for our lifestyle. Although the Zenith is an older ship, it was the treatment by the crew that was crucial to our experience. The food was great the people were friendly, the activities were well organized, embarkation/deembarkation was easy (we did not have any type of priority). We were looking for a relaxing vacation and found it. We felt pampered the whole time. We even won money in the casino! We cruised on the Zenith because it was an inexpensive way to try out cruising. We are sold on cruising and Celebrity!
