I know this is a long way off, and I hate to tie up $900 in deposit for a year and a half, but this is a great ship with a super 11 day Southern caribbean itinerary, and unbelievably good pricing. I am debating booking it. Has anyone else seen or considered this cruise. Ellie
I don't know about the cruise but the $900. may be safer with the cruiseline than in your 401k right now. At least it won't become worth 5% less in the next quarter if gas and groceries keep climbing.
In February, I booked a cruise for November 2009... With a great price, go ahead and jump on it - - with savings hovering at 1% - you won't be losing much over the long term; and this gives you that much longer to save the balance in one of those wonderful 1% savings accounts....

Don't be. Early December pricing is often unbelievably low. I remember pricing a Celebrity cruise for a friend in 2006 for early December. They got a balcony cabin plus a $200 credit for almost half of what it would have cost in the summer (without the credit).
I'd go ahead and book it. As CF notes, this could very well pay you a dividend in fuel surcharge savings since it appears they won't be going away and will only go higher - at least between now and the end of 2009.
Way to go Ellie - - - now you need to get your cruise ticker going.... mine was at 600+ days when I booked, and look - - I'm down now to almost 500 days. Time flies when you're saving for your cruise...
