I am very curious as to what is happening at Celebrity? There are no ships in the Carribean all summer.I find that strange that a company would remove itself from a particular market all together for several months. It seems that some ship other than the Century would go to Europe. They have larger ones and ones that didn't stay in Florida all year any way. They would not have been as noticeable if they were taken away. What does everyone think about this move as to why these chages are happenig.

Evidently Celebrity has decided their clientele are more likely to buy European than Caribbean cruises. The cruise lines, as you know, move ships around all the time, adding, changing or deleting itineraries depending on what their market research tells them is likely to be popular. With the dollar's fall vs the euro this year, cruises may be a very economical way to visit Europe, and perhaps Celebrity decided to take advantage of the situation.

Tom,

it's probably a simple calculation. Per-diems are significantly higher in the European peak season than in the Caribbean "off" season. And then, Karen is most certainly correct that with the current exchange rate of the US$ vs. the Euro, cruises are an excellent way to visit Europe.

You are rihgt! I hadn't given the Euro a thought. I'm sure the profit is much greater right now. That is what bussinees is all about getting the biggest bang for the inestment. I can't say as I blame them, next year who knows maybe the exchange rate will be closer. Thanks for the input.

I have to agree with Karen and Raoul. It was a brilliant move on Celebrity's part to redeploy their fleet based on yield. Deman for Europe is strong and the yields are high. Celebrity will make a killing this summer.

I never thought of it this way. I wish them good luck. We always were able to get a bargain in the summer months so I geuss our loss is thier gain. Oh well i'm sure it will turn around at some point. Thanks again for the input.
