This will be our first cruise, and while the on-line Celebrity check-in allows us to pick which seating we prefer (we're in Main), I don't see a way to ask for a table for 2. What's the secret? Thanks for any help!

That is requested by your TA when booking. Call them and have them change it to table for two. That said, I have met some real interesting people on cruises. It might be worth the gamble. If you don't like the tablemates, talk to the maitre 'd at the end of your first meal. he will be happy to find you a new spot. And don't forget to tell your old table mates some friends asked you to eat with them. (You will be seeing them the whole week. Roll Eyes)

Although you can request a table for two, keep in mind that there are a limited amount of those in each dining room. Your agent can request it for you, but it will not be confirmed until you board the ship, you may go to the dining room and talk with the maitre'd if you are not happy with your assignment.
As the previous poster stated, you can meet some great people at the dining room table.

I booked the cruise myself through Celebrity's website (didn't use a TA). So now what do I do? Just wait until we get on board?

Don't sit by ourself - Get out there and meet some new people. We have met great friends on our cruises. We still stay in touch. We went on a cruise in December with a group of 12 we were all seated together. This was the only cruise - that we didn't make new friends on. Meeting new people at dinner is really something special. (Great friends I will never forget). We even enclosed them in our Family pictures and to enjoy my 40th birthday......

We have done both on Princess Cruise Lines we had personal choice dining and we sat just the two of us a lot. I did miss the other cruise mates. They can give you advice on the shows and buffets. Also you have a good chance of being at the table with people who have cruised before and they make the best suggests. I do understand why you would want a table just the two of you. My Hubby is more of a quiet and private person then me. Cool

Personally, I'm with you on the table for 2. the one time my husband and I listened to the advice to share, we were MISERABLE. If you meet another couple, you can always eat together one night in the casual dining or special dining room. To get a table for 2, call Celebrity with your reservation number and ask for a table for 2, or have your TA do it. If this doesn't work, after you board, go to the lounge (I think on deck 4 or 5) and the maitre d' will be there with the seating chart and he will try to accommodate you.If you're going at a time when families traditionally sale, they will be happy to give you a table for 2.

$$$$ talks. For a 20 spot the Maite d will seat you just about anywhere you want.I agree with the others however, cruising is meeting people on your terms. We enjoyed meeting nightly to learn what everyone has done for the day. Then, after about 2 hours of dinner you don't see them until the next night, unless you chose to...
