I'm planning my first cruise for June (Alaska). Where should I reserve my cabin? I tend towards seasickness and like quiet. I don't want to be near fumes. The rear (ok, I know it's called stern Smile) seems like it would have fumes - no? I appreciate any input. Btw, I'm leaning towards Celebrity balcony. Thanks.

Pat, generally the lower down you are on a ship and the more towards the middle of the deck, the less motion there is. That would sort of leave out a balcony room, however. But please note that Alaska cruises are almost all on inland waters, which are very calm and smooth. The only open ocean sailing is leaving from or sailing to Vancouver. So a balcony room should be fine, not to mention spectacular for sightseeing.
