I know this sounds strange, but I read a review somewhere that said when disembarking in Valparaiso, Chile, that the passengers were warned NOT to have chocolate and other "sweets" on them... that there were actually "sniffer dogs" at the terminal looking for candy. Does anyone know if this is true? I carry munchies and power bars with chocolate! Maybe I wont be on this trip!

I agree it does sound strange. Got a source? that mite narrow it down.

I haven't heard about sweets, but many ships warn against taking fruit off the ship...I guess you need to research it more...start with the cruise line or your travel agent....Happy sailing....

Mscno, it is highly possible. Most ports frown on anything from the ship being taken ashore. As Hankr said, check with TA or the cruise line directly. Best wishes for a wonderful time!
