Thanks for the compliment, but I am perhaps the most ignorant person on this board when it comes to NCL! So I am going to change the thread title to help get more replies. Smile

We (4 Moms and our 18 year old sons on a Senior trip/Spring break) cruised on the NCL Pearl in March 07 for 5 nights to the Western Caribbean. We all loved the ship!! It is beautiful and sparkly new. We found the food to be very good and the service was terrific. I would recommend the Pearl to anyone! Of course that's just my (and my 7 cruise mates) opinion. The only other ship I've sailed on is the Disney Wonder so I don't have vast amounts of cruise experience. I just know that I enjoyed every minute on the Pearl! If you decide to go, I hope you have a great vacation!

hello seekerofthesun...love your name!
Things have unfortunately changed....my husband being a "smoker" NoNo has been told that there is no smoking on the ship other than in the Casino and the Cigar room, which hold 11 people at a time. So he is not too keen on that guess we will look more at the Carnival where we are both happy.
Thanks for your input.....was the ship all done in bright orange colours?

More and more ships are going to a stricter smoking policy....I would have gone on the Pearl and left your husband at home:-)...

Happy Cruising no matter which ship you choose..

Leigh-
Sorry to hear you aren't going to get to experience the "Pearl". I'm sure you and your husband will have a great time with Carnival. One of the women I cruised with on the Pearl was a smoker. She wasn't able to smoke in the room (I'm glad of that...being a nonsmoker) but she was able to smoke any time on the port side aft. I don't believe any of the restaurants allow smoking...which seems to be the tend in all restaurants these days on land as well as at sea. Have a terrific cruise!

NCL recently changed their smoking policy...July 2007...

Cigarette smoking in staterooms and on balconies is permitted.

Cigar and pipe smoking in staterooms and on balconies is prohibited.
All public interior venues, with the exception of the enclosed cigar bars and the casino, are non-smoking. Smoking is prohibited in all restaurants, bars, theatres, meeting rooms, restrooms, corridors, stairwells and lobbies.

Cigarette smoking in the casino is permitted.

Cigarette, cigar and pipe smoking is permitted in enclosed cigar bars.

Cigarette, cigar and pipe smoking is permitted on outdoor public guest spaces and open decks where designated by the ship’s management based on the ship’s specific characteristics and arrangements. No smoking is permitted in or near venues serving food, the jogging track, outdoor sporting venues and children’s pool areas.

Thanks seekerofthesun and CruiseMark, I a have definately NOT ruled out NCL I plan on trying it possibly in March. It is nice to leave from New York being so close to Canada. Beats the cost of airfare to Miami but hey who can refuse a few extra days in the sunny south? Cool
I'm sure the smoking will be fine as long as he can smoke on the deck somewhere, at least I will know where to find him Eek
