We are booked on her going out of Charleston, SC in December. Never been on her, but really excited. We have done mostly Carnival Cruises, but this looks like alot of fun, and besides, we will only be 2 hours from the port. We are really interested in trying the "Free Style Cruising". I say, book, have a great time, all cruises are what you make of them. Just lay back and have fun!! Cool

Hi,

We cruised on the Majesty in September of this year, it was our first cruise and we thought it was a wonderful experience. Although the Majesty is one of NCL's older ships, we really enjoyed our vacation, our room was clean and comfortable, the staff on the ship could not do enough for us. The food was good and the entertainment was good! We are already looking forward to sailing on the Majesty again next year! If you have any specific questions I would be happy to try an answer them for you.

What types of food did they serve? Was the total cost of the cruise, tips extra etc overpriced? How were the shows, casino, etc. Did they arrive in ports on time, and did they have lots of things to do?

Thanks, Karl

You might want to check out the reviews of this ship on www.cruisereviews.com, a sister site to this one. There are quite a few, including some recent ones. That might help to answer some of your questions. Smile

The food served on our cruise in the seven seas dining room (main dining room) was usually had a choice of a chicken, beef or fish entree, several different soups and salads. There are also several other dining options, the Pasta Cafe, the Buffet upstairs on Deck 10. Tips/extras...NCL does include a $10.00 per person per day charge that I believe was called a gratuity. We however did tip our room stewards and several of the waitstaff who had taken exceptional care of us, but that is certainly something that is an individual decision. I thought for the price we paid for our cruise, 689.00 for an inside cabin, it was well worth it. I didn't feel that the drinks were overpriced...I had expected them to be so I was pleasantly surprised. We enjoyed the entertainment especially Graffiti Classics. I thought there were plenty of activities on the ship, although I have to admit, we did a fair amount of just lounging around relaxing! We did arrive in port on time, however due to high winds we ended up in Hamilton for 2 days instead of St. George, both are great places to visit although very different. I didn't go to the casino, except to pass through it...I don't have any luck gambling! All in all, I thought this was a great cruise, perhaps it's that I haven't cruised on any other ship, we are definitely planning to cruise on the Majesty again next year.

We were on the Majesty cruise to Bermuda on 6/26/05, with a family group of 15. It was our 5th cruise overall, and all others were on NCL mega ships, Dawn (3x) and Star.

It was another positive NCL experience for us, and our entire group had a great time. We had a broad passenger mix, from 6 to upper 60's. Most of the group have cruised very little, and everyone was very positive about the Majesty, especially FreeStyle. Food, Service, and Entertainment were all high points for all.

I would say the only two drawbacks were the age and size of the ship. The age was reflected in a few "environmental" issues we had, like the A/C had to be tweaked in a couple of rooms, it took a day or so to get all our safes working properely, and there was no phone messaging capability from room to room, which made communication with our group a little more difficult. The staff was very efficient in responding to our calls for assistance. As for the A/C, I did read on a message board later, that someone else had a similar problem, but I think it may be in particular areas of the ship as opposed to a ship wide problem. Maybe you could look into it with NCL if you are concerned, maybe they could tell you if and where there might be specific problem areas.

As for the size of the ship, small was not really a problem, but maybe a point of preference. We are accustomed to the large ships, large theater, etc. Though there was always plenty of organized activities going on, there just seemed to be even more of them on the Dawn. Of course there are always two sides to the story, as there are also advantages to being smaller.

In addition to the enjoyment of the ship's offerring, the friendly staff, etc., we also enjoyed our Bermuda itinerary very much. We would definetely consider another cruise on the Majesty, before her U.S. days are over.

I had a great cruise on the Majesty last July.
While small to today's mega cruise ships, it does tie up to the pier in St. George. Larger ships can't.

Here's one place where being small pays off. The only pier in Bermuda that accommodates the larger ships is at the old navy base, a long way from Hamilton and St. George.
