Do you think its wise to try and bring your own bottle of rum, whatever in your suitcase? Not from ports but from home base?

No, doing anything that violates the cruise line policy is not wise.

ok Lisa, was just reading on another chat site were ppl were doing it to save money, said the worse that could happen is they would take the bottle, but not going to risk it

Another solution is you can call ahead to the ship coordinator and ask for a bar set-up and pay for a bottle to be in your room when you arrive. It does cost more than you'd pay at a liquor store but it isn't outrageous and you don't have to worry about smuggling something in. We have done it before and just arranged it for our next cruise. We have a balcony and really enjoy having a drink and watching the world pass by.

Yet another topic discussing sneeking liquor aboard. This has been disucssed to death and it has become our stance that we need not discuss violate the cruise lines rules on this board. Therefore I and closing this thread.
