Well, what a trip! Lets start the review.

Sept 13 Fly into NYC from Denver, the flight was good and when we got to LGA (laguiardia) we were able to take a bus to our destination Central park west 106th and broadway for only 2 dollars, so that was good.

Port Of NYC Amazing of course, we were hasseled by a couple of people when we got off the bus, they wanted us to buy them a bucket of chicken but we declined and moved on. We stayed at a friends apartment which was great, right by the park and in a pretty good neighborhood. We walked around the park the next day and basically explored the city for the next couple of days until we boarded the ship. Of course it rained and rained on us thursday and friday. We went to the Musuem of Natural history, which was pretty interesting for the most part. We went to the Yankees devil rays game on thursday night which was awesome, but we got rained on most of the time.

First few days Port Grade: A (Sail out of NYC if possible!)

Saturday we boarded the Spirit. We dropped off our bags around 11 then walked to times squared for about 90 minutes them back to the pier. It took us probably 10 minutes to get to times square from the pier. There were hardly any lines at all to get on the ship and we made it on by 1245. We hung out by the pool and whatnot because we were not able to go into our room until 2. Drinks were expensive of course, but what do you expect from a cruise. The staff was very hard working and courtious. We had some waiters that were good and a few that were great, but never a bad one. The casino is a rip off, I wouldnt spend any money there, I think they cheat. The entertainment was lacking and needed a few drinks before it could have been funny. We gave up on it after a couple tries. The food was excellent for the most part, a couple of nights there was nothing on the menu that really peaked my interest but anything I ordered tasted good. The deserts were awesome. Raffels (the buffet) was alright, nothing special. One night I got sick from some sort of egg sandwhich, but other than that it was good. I think getting sick was also part of laying out in the sun too long.

Ports of call

St Thomas/St John : We sailed into St thomas and took a cab to the ferry from the pier, which was 10 a person. I tried to wheel and deal but they werent having it and they didnt have to, the demand was too high. SO after we took a cab to the ferry, the ferry to st john and a cab to trunk bay we had spent around 90 dollars (including the cab ride from the ferry back to the pier) the ferry was 10 each round trip and the cab from the ferry to trunk bay was 6. Trunk bay was great, not too crowded and the weather was great.

St Thomas port grade: B+ (The plus was for trunk bay and St John.)

Tortola was our next stop and we had a terrible time. There was absolutly nothing close to the poret but some lame shops and we didnt really have time to go see any of the sights by cab. So we just walked around for about a half hour and then headed back to the ship. If you go to tortla, make sure you leave enough time to go do something such as an excursion or go to the baths.

Port of Tortola grade : D

Next stop was bermuda. It was very windy but nice and there were a few things to explore by foot right around the ship. There is a little kids beach (which adults use as well) that wasnt half bad. Bermuda was pretty cool, but I dont have much to say about it since we didnt do much there except walk around and hang at the beach but I would definatly go back.

Bermuda Grade C+

Disembarking was easy, we carried our own stuff off and got right off the **** and out to a cab in about 10 minutes, really very simple and fast.

The spirit was a good ship and there was always something to do for the most part, sometimes just going to the card room and playing cards was enough for us. The internet cafe is a ripoff .75 cents per minute and a 4 dollar activation fee.

The Spirit Grade: B

We ended up staying in NYC for another 2 days where we saw hairspray the musical which was amazing! We went to the brooklyn bridge and that was fun. On the way to LGA on tuesday morning we caught a cab at 103rd by central park west and headed for the fdr as we were coming around a corner on the FDR there was something laying in the road, which our cab hit and it ended up being a man who was wounded already by a gun shot. Pretty crazy end to a fun trip!
