Last year the ship changed from Pride of Aloha to NCL Sky. They did some quick refurbishments and put her on the 3/4 night Bahamas route. I believe they are now giving her a more thorough refurbishment.

I also heard that they were looking into reworking the buffet area as well.
I have taken an Alaskan cruise on the Sky in 2002. I knew that it was refurbished and renamed the Pride of Aloha for Hawaii. Then it was redone again and renamed the Sky. I had figured that this latest round was some sort of upgrading, but I have not heard specifically what they were doing to it. I read where the buffet would probably be get redone. With it being in port for 2 weeks in the Bahama's, I am sure that more is being done. Just curious.

She was really nice when we sailed her last year. I really thought the interior was nicely appointed. They had the main buffet area and then two areas outside. They opened the port side (aft) early for coffee and danish, then opened the other areas. I didn't find the sticky buns until the last day at sea, they were on the main buffet line. Guess I should be glad, but boy were they good.
The short cruises on the NCL Sky have been extremely profitable for NCL. I would suspect a revamping of the present buffet area to action stations would be major plus. We sailed the Sky in March 2009 and found the Garden Buffet to be small, and ineffecient to handle the passenger load. The actions stations as seen on the Gem, Jewel and Pearl are fantastic.
We are doing a family cruise on the NCL Sky in Feb. 2010 and we are all looking forward to cruising on her after the refrubishing. It'll be a real treat to my 92 yr. old mother - She is more excited about it than the rest of the family!
