Sometimes it depends on the category of cabin you have, or your status in a particular cruise lines past passenger program.

I'd have no problem wearing another lines robes! Maybe it would shame them! I got ragged on by a Carnival cruise director once when he noticed my RCI t-shirt. I told him "give me one of yours and I'll wear it". He gave me a Carnival t-shirt from their stash of junk they hand out for the pool games.

Last summer on the Freedom Of The Seas our cabin steward gave us two robes to keep. They were extras from some other cabin's gift package or something. Anyway, he wanted to cement a good tip from us and he did!

What do you mean junk?! It's all very valuable stuff that if you hold on to it for 50 years then you can sell it on ebay and get rich. Lol

Oh, like the plastic paperweight I won on the Grand Princess! Even Ray the CD said "this is one ugly prize!"

Bruce:

I believe the robes are part of the stateroom class you select. On the NCL Dream in Oct 2006, we were on Deck 5 and NO robes. On the Pearl Feb 2nd, 2007 we had a Penthouse Suite AC, 9500 and the robes were there. Why they do this I don't know. Next time when on NCL and you don't have them, ask the Hotel Director personally to have them delivered. These excutive officers will meet your request.

No, this was a plastic thing that looked like an amber bar of soap with the Princess logo stamped on it.
