will i have a room that some one has smoked in shouold i have asked for a non smoking room ?

In all of our cruises, we could never tell if there had been a smoker in the room or not...and my wife is very allergic to smoke...so I wouldn't worry about it...They work some type of magic in making the rooms smell fresh.
Sooner or later, I would hope that all smoking is banned on ships except for enclosed smoking areas....Just my opinion....Happy Cruising....

There are no cabins designated as non-smoking on NCL ships. So you can't ask for one.

I agree with both previos post except for one thing. Berick, if you've never had a bad experience with smoke odor in a cabin why would you want it banned? They accommodate all passengers whether smokers or not very well and have no issues with the policy as it is. Just a good idea to punish smokers for thier existance? That seems to be what many municipalites and states are doing now. I love freedom in all forms. Smokers are actually beneficial to your tax burden. They die earlier and consume fewer benefits from programs like SS, medicare, Medicaid, etc. Just like with all freedoms we enjoy, you have the freedom to express your opinion. I support that right and even smokers rights if they don't infringe on mine. In this case they do not.

I am sure there will be some who will be offended by what I am about to say, but just as some would love to see a totally non-smoking ship, I and my family would love to see a totally adult cruise (no one under 25), but that is just our wishes, and everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Interesting note though... we have a local restaurant that has recently opened outside the city limits. ALL smoking. It is incredible how great they are doing, full to the max every night, all week long. Good food, good atmosphere, great smoke ventilation, and freedom to enjoy what you enjoy without any judgemental stares or remarks from anyone.

We rarely smoke in restaurants, even where it is allowed, since we do NOT wish to offend others, but this new place has become our dining choice now, as it is excellent food and non-smokers are NOT welcome, unless they can keep their opinions to themselves. Glad that being out of the city means this restaurant owner is free to set his own rules.

Just my humble opinion.

NCL has NEW smoking policy........casino's and staterooms or cigar bars only. No more smoking on outside of decks or promenade areas. Maybe this will help......somewhat. If you smell smoke in the room, ask the room steward to spray it down.

Smoking is allowed on the outside decks, and balconies.

You can smoke cigarettes, pipes and cigars outside on open decks (just not around food venues, sport decks, kids’ pool areas and other designated non-smoking areas).

The reason I would like a ban on smoking in ANY room on a ship comes from me spending a small bundle on a balcony and then having a cigar/cigarette smoking person in the next balcony and pouring volumes of ill smelling smoke into my room...and he never stopped, spent most of the cruise sucking on a foul smelling cigar....we spent most of our cruise with the door closed and of course had no recourse short of hosing him down....but then that wouldn't have been a neighborly thing to do....gee, wish he would have thought of being neighborly....oh, Minnesota is going smoke free in October....Happy cruising...the world is getting too screwed up and just getting along is a start to change that....Peace...and it's just my opinion...No harm no foul....
