What are your overall impression about Star Cruises? Are their services onboard their ships very good? How are the people, crew members, and passenger experiences?

Inquiring minds want to know. However, I don't believe that I will ever take my vacation onboard their ships, much less NCL, after what they had done to my favorite ship, the SS Norway.

But anything about Star Cruises would interesting to read about.

If you're interested in taking a Star cruise, I suggest their best ship is the Superstar Virgo, the sister to the Norwegian Spirit.
It's sailing from Singapore for the next few months, then repositions to Hong Kong. Later this year, it repositions back to Singapore.

Also in their fleet is the Superstar Libra, ex Norwegian Sea. It's sailing from Hong Kong now, but will reposition back to Taiwan later this year. The Superstar Aquarius is also sailing from Hong Kong now, repositions to Signapore at the same time Virgo repositions, then repositions back to Hong Kong again when the Virgo repositions back to Singapore.
Their last super ship, the Superstar Gemini, is presently sailing around Australia, but will reposition back to Singapore. Later this year it will leave Star Cruises fleet, about the same time the Norwegian Dream joins Star Cruises fleet.

The more traditional cruise experiences have been on the Gemini. The Virgo's longer cruises are more traditional, but it's shorter cruises are aimed more for gamblers. The Libra sails just a few longer cruises, most are fairly short affairs, again aimed for gamblers. Almost all the Aquarius sailings are overnight gambling cruises. They expanded the casino significantly on it.

If you're going to give Star a try, I suggest either the Gemini or Virgo.

Ron, do you know what NCL did with the Wind? It was doing Hawaii and Fanning Island and suddenly went away and PO Aloha took over the route. Since then it's disappeared from my list of NCL ships.

"Norwegian Wind" has been transferred to Star Cruises and has been renamed "SuperStar Aquarius". They turned her into a casino ship operating one-night gambling cruises out of Hong Kong with many public spaces turned into casinos. Star Cruises even removed the main pool deck and replaced it with a casino!

I hope those beautiful aft dining rooms are still intact. Wishful thinking, I know.

Lisa I know you're a fan of the older ships but I think moving the Wind out of the fleet is actually an improvement. It had constant issues for the past couple of years of service. Multiple breakdowns on the Fanning Island leg and was adding to the overall negative reviews of their Hawaii sailings even though it wasn't in the NCLA line. It was one of the stretched ships like Dream that have suffered some nasty press and reviews from the accessibility issues among other things. I know you're going on Dream soon and have sailed her before. I also know both ships had their share of folks who have fond memories from both ships. But the the new ships being added to the line and the with very favorible reports from them I think thier push for the newest fleet on the seas will pay off well for them. Enjoy your quick sail on Dream, it may be your last oppt'y to sail her as they continue to modernize their entire fleet.
