Hey folks me again I have another issue question that maybe you all could help with. With our sailing date fast approaching (April 21) I decided to make a call to NCL and see if I could book a few things for embarkation. I called up and asked for a bottle of wine for the room witht he assorted fruits and also asked if the beds could be put together to give me and the little lady a big bed, also asked for a bed mat so it would be softer. The lady at NCL told me they can not accept requests until we are borded. HUH???? I thought I could make an embarkation request before sailing not wait till I am on board.
Any help would be greatley appreciated.
PS: All these customer service issues are making me very nervious about the upcoming cruise
They should be able to connect you with the department. Ask for their "Bon Voyage" department. All the other lines have them so NCL should be no different. As for the bed request, wait until you board the ship and ask your cabin steward to make those changes. they will gladly assist you before bedtime. If not, the beds are really easy to move around if you don't want to wait.

Hey Jude (no pun intended). I feel your frustration. I haven't sailed NCL for many years, but they had the ports we wanted to sail to, so we thought we would give them a try. They are making us nervous as well. Ordered a romance package. Tried to follow up to find out why it hadn't billed yet, after transferring me several times, they finally found the order. This months credit card statement had a charge of $790.30 instead of $79. NCL insisted they only billed us $79.00. After transferring again, they said they had caught the error and had credited the card the difference. So far, we haven't seen the credit. We are meeting up with other family members on the cruise. They had booked shore excursions (scuba in Belize), but never got the confirmation. Again, calls to NCL, (transfering of course to other departments), they were told that they had not received their request and now the scuba is booked. We are extremely nervous about this. Having sailed Princess and RCCL most recently, we never had issues. I'm trying to stay positive since I love to cruise, but this seems to be a lot of work to keep the cruise line on track and focused. Hopefully just glitches, but unless the trip is flawless, we will go back to something a bit more hassle free.
Thank you Carl and tncr. I may just call again and get someone diffrent hopefully. Carl I also booked shore excursions and recived my confirmations but I will call just to double check (thank god I am printing out everything) and I will also carry all confirmations with me. My CC hasnt been billed yet either but NCL stated to me they add it to the cruise charge and I can pay at the end of the cruise.
The romance package does sound like a good idea too and when I make the next call I will ask for it. Hopefully this time around I will have better luck actually getting a responsive person.
With these customer service issues I am really getting nervous. I hope the actual cruise experience makes up for the aggrivation before boarding. Being this is my first cruise I hope this isnt a sign of things to come
Jude, don't get discouraged at all. I can almost guarantee that the cruise experience will be wonderful!! I have never been disappointed and I'm sure you won't be either!! Have a great cruise!!
Ok I spoke with Mary at the cruise coordinators office(after 4 transfers ) She fixed everything. Got the Romance Package 505, the beds put together with the mat, and even got a bar setup in the room (bottle of smirnoff and a bottle of bacardi silver a 6pack of diet soda) I also confirmed all the shore excursions!
Kinda ripping you a little but to have legal liquor in the room before boarding makes it worth it. Plus with the romance package I will also be having a bottle of sparkiling wine. So I will be pretty much setup for the first few hours of the trip.
We arent going to be getting inebriated by whats in the room but more of a relaxation beverage before doing onboard festivites.
After my travel agent gave me my confirmation number, I called reservations to make sure everything was correct. It wasn’t. I don’t know if it was NCL or my TA, but I had to correct several errors. None of it was too serious, but I wasn’t pleased. I did find the NCL reps to be friendly and helpful.
I sent a bon voyage party to parents on their last NCL cruise, and everything was set up as ordered with no problems.
Bottom line: I always follow up everything with everybody no matter what and get it in writing. I print everything out and take it with me on trips in a binder, so I have all my maps, phone numbers, insurance policies, directions and confirmation numbers handy if needed.
Originally posted by carlg: That still seems cheaper than buying drink by drink though.
Thats what I figured. I figure what 10 drinks per bottle depending on how "stiff" you make them. So say 25 drinks at cruise line cost of say 6 bucks thats 150 dollars vs my 95. Savings of 55 dollars. Thats 9 drinks "on the house"
Ok so instead of starting another stupid question thread I figured I could just add it here.
Is there a restriction on size of shampos and stuff? I know the airlines now require those small travel bottles and I was just wondering if cruise lines are doing the same.
Bottle/liquid sizes are only significant to carry on pieces is my understanding. What size bottles you put in your checked luggage doesn't seem to matter.
I agree with you that there is savings by purchasing your liquor for the stateroom. However since you want to make this a romantic trip, don't be cheap on the drinks. There is nothing like sitting down before dinner and having a drink in a great atmosphere like one of the lounges on the ship. You can't duplicate the atmosphere of a nice lounge after dinner, with soft lights, live music and others present. Consider these options when on board. Having an after dinner drink in one of show theatres is also nice. So while you may save a few bucks on in room drinks, theres nothing more romantic than taking your partner out into the ship and enjoying one of the fine lounges on board, its always a great atmosphere and can be very romantic and intimate for a party of two. Also don't forget about a nice romantic dinner for two with a bottle of wine at your table. You certainly won't want to visit a lounge at night listening to music and order water, nor a nice dinner out in one of the restaurants and order water for your partner. This will be a very memorable trip for you and your partner, make it nice and she will certainly fall in love with you. Get the romance package on NCL for $79.00 and enjoy the eveing in Le Bistro with that bottle of wine, I suggested. That's romantic.
