I would guess that not all is lost when it comes to the interiors. Obviously it was mentioned that the stairwell artwork, children's playroom 'ark' mural and the murals from the Windward dining room were removed but that still leaves a large amount of items left onboard. I doubt they stripped the bannisters, rail treatments, structural panels or the majority of individual cabins and public rooms.
And if the ship is saved I would imagine that the new owners will offer NCL an attractive price to have all the good stuff back. The happy version would be if NCL donated the items back but I think we all know the answer on that one.
Back to the horn for a second....I had no idea where it was...so as we were leaving St Thomas, I am standing on the top deck forward next to this thing marked "Nautophone". OMG when that horn fired I was no more than five feet away. My left ear rang for a couple of hours!!! But it was wonderful, wasn't it!
Gee, if the big white box princess were to do a mid-winter north atlantic run, would you want to be on it - ah, the lawsuits. :-)

north beach nj major celebrity fan, but i miss the norway
Back in 1981 we were on the bridge wing with relief Capt. Hoddevik and Capt. Hauge as we departed St. Thomas. I remember looking aft and seeing the aft end rise and fall in a huge swell, and felt that familiar pulse beneath my feet that made me think of her as a living thing. Capt. Hoddevik made a motion that told us to cover our ears, and pressed a button; the big Tyfons shattered the air around us as he sounded a farewell salute, three long blasts, one short. But after the initial start I found that I could tolerate the din quite well and left my ears uncovered for the remainder of the salute, fully enjoying the glorious sound. Now when I hear that recording I think of that day, and of the day in May 1980 when NORWAY came up New York's Upper Bay, acknowledging the greetin gs of other craft in the harbor. The sound of those Tyfons was moving then, and is still moving now.

Oh yeah. Those are definately her horns and the audio clip was taken while she was laid up in Germany. Listen to a modern day cruise ship's horn and then listen to Norway's horns. There is a noticable difference in the tone and mostly the volume. Most cruise ships only have two main horns and Norway has five.
I'm pretty certain she must have had the biggest stud-sounding horns ever to park at Dodge Island.
Are they all still "original equipment" from 1962? (the genesis of 5-channel surroundsound?) I would guess crossing the North Atlantic would require a much more robust sound system than those little sissy-boats need floating around the Caribbean.
btw: Here's another BAN document posted at ssMaritime on July 20th: NCL Deception document

He says that it only just occurred to Star/NCL in DECEMBER 2005 that the Malaysians could not actually repair S/S Norway , so it was only THEN that they decided to try to scrap her. Lo and behold, like only ONE WEEK later, the fine people of Bagladesh decided they didn't want the toxic waste in THEIR country.
AND his boiled eggs were NEVER bad on NCL.

Anyone else notice today that another "outdated" Kloster/NCL ship, the former STARWARD now the ORIENT QUEEN is under charter by the US government to transport americans from Lebanon to Cypress all this week. Hopefully she will not be a target.
Alex - I too have read that report elsewhere some time ago.So not much new news is coming out of SS Maritime at present. If the ship is to be bought for the Dubai project then why are negotiations taking so long?
I'm taking my kids to the beach next week. It's Mustang Week in Myrtle Beach.
I had reservations at a resort called The Breakers ... then I thought about .... you know ..... our Great Ship's current predicament. And had to CANCEL that and find a room somewhere else in MB.
I hope she appreciates it.
