Hi everyone, I'm glad to find at last a forum who talks about SS Norway. I'm french and i'm surprised (horrified) of such indifference in my country for the fate of one the most beautiful ship ever build. Sometimes, it's really shameful to be french. I hope sincerely that we'll can save her soon.

"Norway on the move? - November 24: Maritime Matters readers at Changi Airport, Singapore spotted the Norway (ex France) far out to sea, presumably being towed, destination unknown..." from Maritime Matters
Actually, this is at this stage nothing but an unconfirmed rumor. It wouldn't be the first time in recent months that a Maritime Matters source is wrong as far as the "Norway" is concerned.
Also, the French article doesn't provide any additional substantial updates. Actually, assuming the "Norway" was indeed spotted off Singapore, that certainly means she is not being towed to India for scrap as she would be heading in a totally wrong direction. Of course it is possible that she might be towed to China to be scrapped there - but as I said above, this is a pile of rumors based on one vague source.
for what it's worth, Star Cruises denies that the "Norway" has left Port Klang. The company says that she continues to be at anchor off the port limits.
... perharps some think new... from Jacques Lhéritier, French President of "Association for The Paquebot France" "A decision concerning the purchase of France / Norway should be taken within 24 hours for one of the last three potential buyers ." But "apparently, it is not for France!"... more information on wwW.LeGlaneur.info and a list of links to have informations in live !
no decision has been made as far as I know. Star Cruises deny any rumors that the ship has been sold or that it has left Port Klang and claims that no decision has been made. We will have to wait and see, I'm afraid.

Hello you - my question - can you help me to find the dates of the SS France arrive in New York 1974 in June, July and August? I'm looking for the dates since years - Elton John and Julian Lennon were is this trip too, and an unknown opera singer. Can you help me? Thank you. Jörg
I'm sorry. I don't have access to the CGT sailing schedule.
It's a pity! Is it possible to get this information on another way? Do you know how often the SS France was in New York - monthly? Or do you know how many days it took to travel from LeHavre-Southampton to New York, how many days she stay in the habors of LeHavre or New York before shipping back over the sea? Thank you for answering Jörg
i was on the norway when it exploded in miami, it was my 2nd cruise on the ship. ever since then i"ve been following the future of norway. i love to cruise and the norway is such a classic ship thats so majistic, the new ships are not like her. i have alot of pics from the final cruise as i am a photographer, every time i look at them i take a trip down memory lane.whats going on now? anyone know?
there has been speculation again lately that she will be sold for scrap, soon. But at this time this is just the very same rumors that have been around for years.
She is at the outer anchorage south port klang. This is all the information I could get from port klang authority, they were unwilling/unable to speculate on her fate.
German "Forum Schiff" message board has a good-quality picture of the "Norway" off Port Klang taken in September. It is clearly visible on the picture that the NCL logos have been removed from her funnels and stern, and the huge NORWAY letter amidships an Sun Deck are also gone.
my dear Australian friend, Reuben Goossens, reports that Indian and Bangladeshi scrap merchants inspected the "Norway" off Port Klang December 10th/11th - among them a representative of Kumar Steel, Alang. The Indian scrap merchant mad a bid for the ship but a Bangladeshi breaker reportedly won the contract.
Reuben expects the "Norway" to be towed to Chittagong, Bangladesh, for scrapping very soon.
This is just terrible news if it bears out. I have not appreciated the misleading cloak Star/NCL has draped this with from the start. Of course, deep down we all knew they were doing this and the Norway would end up as so many tons of scrap iron on an Indian Ocean beach.
Don't blame Star Cruises or NCL for this. The Norway has been up for sale for several years and there has been time for organizations to raise money to save her.
