NCL and NCL America has joined the bandwagon for adding a fuel surcharge. All new bookings made on or after December 1st will have a $7 per person/per day fuel surcharge for 1st and 2nd guest. Additional guest in the same cabin will be charged a $3 per person/per day fuel surcharge.
At least NCL is adding the fuel surcharge to new bookings made after Dec.1 and is not adding it to existing bookings! I note that unlike CCL-NCL has not set a limit to the maximum fuel surcharge!
I totally agree Billy. That has been my biggest objection to the charge. The way CCL charged it to paid in full bookings. Will be interesting to see what RCCL does.

Thank you NCL for not sticking us early bookies with the surcharge.....I saved both ways by booking in June....But we all knew it was coming...Cruising is still the best travel bargain....Happy Cruising to one and all...
Note that NCL is charging additional passengers where CCL only is charging 1st and 2nd. Regardless; it's all inevitable that all the cruise lines will be doing it one way or another.
I noticed that too, CruiseFanatic. The surcharge for our upcoming 7-night cruise on HAL for my family of three will be between $70 and $140 (taking the $10 pppd cap into consideration). On NCL, it would be $119. Of course, as billybuzzy pointed out, NCL is not applying the surcharge to existing bookings. (I wonder if there will be a rush on NCL bookings in the next two weeks...)
Here's the official press release from NCL for those who haven't seen it.
