Basically, the Star left late because it arrived late. The reason is was late arriving is because the seas were too rough and the winds were too high to dock.
A scenario that can happen to any ship at any port when weather conditions are so bad.
Should the cruise compensate any time lose or inconvinece for their guest? I know it is not their fault, but if passenger has to delay more than 8 hours with no food and discomfort. Should the cruise do something for the passenger.
Passengers aboard the ship were able to eat and stay in their cabins until the ship docked. Passengers waiting on the ship ashore were taken to a convention center and were fed snacks and drinks while they waited. What else do you want?
Discomfort is relative. Were there delays, yes. Were the passengers abandoned on the streets, no.
yes, the discomfort is relative and depend how you see it. I just read the passager review regarding the delay, no food just coffee and water in the convention center and ship leave around 2 am. Some people has to get off the center to get food. All those horrible comments make you think about hurricane refugee.
Muiyin, don't worry about your cruise in July. The Star's first Alaska cruise (and also the Sun's first Alaska cruise, which I was on) were always scheduled to begin later than any of their other cruises for the season (leaving Seattle at 10:00 p.m.). Both ships had repositioned from their winter cruises and arrived in Vancouver on the morning of the day they were to leave Seattle. When all passengers were disembarked in Vancouver, both ships were refueled and loaded with provisions for their Alaska cruises. Then the ships sailed empty of passengers from Vancouver to Seattle, a trip of several hours. Each ship arrived in Seattle around 6:00 p.m.
Except for that ONE and only one cruise, both ships are sailing their normal schedules and leaving Seattle at 4:00 p.m.
Have fun. You will love the Star. She is a beautiful ship!
thank you the informations, I have read tons of review and comments about the cruise. We are leaving in July and prepare for it. We will enjoy it no matters what, you only live once.
