Hi all, We are going on the Oosterdam this Saturday, June 21. My wife injured her foot last week and it is probably broken. She'll need a wheelchair on the ship. She has crutches, but that is tough to get around. Do any of you have contacts for a wheelchair rental in Seattle? Thanks!

Hi etinca. I am sorry to hear of your wife's injury.
I just took a look at HAL's Web site and found their Access to Excellence brochure. In it, it states that pax must use an "approved provider" and asks that pax contact ther Access & Compliance Department: (800) 547-8493, or halw_access@hollandamerica.com. The department is open M-F from 8am-5pm Pacific time.
Let us know how it goes. I also hope your wife's recovery goes well.

Also sorry to hear the news of your wifes injury. There are two companies that HAL and the other lines use for all medical supply rentals...
Cruise Ship Assist 866-889-8099 and Care Vacation 877-478-7827
These two companies provide the rental, coordinate the delivery to/pick up at the pier and notification of the cruiseline. They make the process easy. One thing you'll also want to do though, the delivery won't put the chair where you can access it when you arrive at the pier for the line at embark. You'll need to contact your T/A and request what they call pier assist. They have complimentary wheelchairs for embark/disembark upon request. With HAL there may be a wait for one. There are many pier assist requests with this line on Alaska sailings. They only have a couple so you may have a long delay at the curb or transfer van until one is free. So arrive early if possible.
Hi all, Thanks for all the information. We went with Care Vacations. They will set us up on the ship. This way she can crutch her way through the airport and we don't have to worry about transporting a wheelchair. This is a great service they all provide. I will take up the suggestion of assist at the pier great idea. I knew I could count on folks here Thanks for the help!
