we're going on a cruise on the zuiderdam and our travel agent insists that jeans are okay in the evening as long as we're not sloppy, and the cruise line tells us that jeans are not acceptable in the public areas of the ship. Help!! Please email if you have answer mongo2@aol.com
Jeans are frowned upon for dinner on most cruise ships, and Holland America's policy is to encourage everyone to observe the evening's dress code, out of respect for their fellow guests. Jeans are ok in the buffet area, but you really should bring slacks and collared shirts (for men) at very minimum. Formal nights will call for a dark suit or tux (dark blazer & matching slacks will suffice), and dressy pantsuits or dresses for women.

Hi. Definitely changing travel agents. We just got back and did not see any jeans in the dining room except one couple the first evening (Their baggage was lost). How do people find travel agents?

Ask friends, family and co-workers for their recommendations. If they dont have a travel agent specializing in cruising, then make a few calls from your local yellow pages and question the TA, if you are not happy with their answers, then keep looking. There are quite a few good cruise agents around, since there are so many different cruiselines and ships, you defintely want one who specializes in this area.
