I've been collecting coffee mugs for many years from the various places I've been too. And recently I pick up a travel mug too.

I've read on other boards that getting HAL mugs and travel mugs can be tricky. These maybe the only souvenirs I pick up. Can anyone direct me to where on the ms. Noordam I can purchase these items? I would really hate to come home without them.

10 days and counting!

When we were on the Ryndam last year, sitting in Glacier Bay, they came around and sold hot chocolate or coffee in Holland America mugs. They are blue metal, really nice cups. I would just ask when you are on the ship. I can't remember if they had them in the gift shop or not. Have fun!

I got mine in the gift shop on Veendam. Nothing tricky about it.

I have one from every ship on HAL that I've been on by winning it at team trivia. Mugs are one of the plentiful giveaways.

I've never been on a cruise where I didn't see the over priced coffee mugs in the gift shop.

I also collect coffee mugs. That was fine but then it got out of hand after my second cruise because I also collect them from each port. I have to rethink my strategy. Trouble is, some are really pretty, like the one from Curacao that is like a mother of pearl paint, so I don't use them. They are on display.
I thought about converting to the small shot glasses also available on the ship and each port. But that gives everyone the wrong impression. I am addicted to coffee not shots.
So now I collect both. Roll Eyes

Thimbles, spoons and pins all take up a lot less room and make nice remembrances.

Greyson, thank you for the tip on getting mugs on Ryndam Glacier Bay cruises. We'll be onboard next summer.

My husband collects mugs -- not from every ship, though -- and we store them in CD racks. The racks are the type that 12 compartments meant (3 tall, 4 wide) to hold 12 CDs each. We find that one mug fits nicely into one compartment.

Magictam, were you able to find them on your cruise?

Happy cruising,
LisaP

HAL also gives out a ceramic tile to Mariners (those with more than 1 HAL cruise). It is a picture of the ship, either the current one or a historical picture of the ship with the same name (not sure how to express that correctly).
I hear Carnival gives out towels in the shape of animals!
