Has anyone had a 4 berth room? Could you let me know what the beds are like coming down from the wall.

Hi ckaus, and welcome to cruise-chat.com. My apologies for replying so long after your post... I was on HAL's Ryndam the past week.

Which category cabin are you considering? Some cabins have a sofabed that sleeps two (3rd & 4th pax), while others have an upper berth.

Sorry forgot to ask also we are docking in Bangkok for 2 days and wonder if we stay in a hotel in Bangkok for the night will there be shuttle buses going back to the ship on the 2nd day or is it advisable to only do a day trip into town and back with the shuttle?

You're welcome. According to the Deck Plan, you'll have two lower beds for the two of you, a sofabed for one of your grandchildren, and an upper berth for your other grandchild. I haven't seen the configuration of the upper berths, that is, whether they fold out of the wall or come out of the ceiling, but the cabin sounds fine to me. HAL's cabins are pretty generously sized.

Any quads that I have seen the upper bunk folds down from the wall.

Why would you spend the money on a hotel in Bangkok when you've already paid for your cabin on the ship? Personally I would do a day trip, return to the ship for a shower, dinner and relax - I'm sure you'll be tired after touring all day. Then go back out the next day for another tour. If you stayed in a hotel you'd have to take some sundry items with you and a change of clothes. This doesn't make sense to me.
