If you are going to Cruise Alaska after 1-1-07 are you aware that you will be taxed by the good people of Alaska at a rate of $50.00 per person?
Ahh, those folks really love to stick it to us dummies from the lower 48 don't they? Evidently they do not undertstand the concept that cruise passangers arrive with bundles of spendable cash that they are willing to give to Alaskans for very little work.
But still, Alaskans want more....
What are your feelings on this rip off?
regards, mickeyd

I have already written to the Govenor and told him I, for one will not be visiting his fair state anytime soon (not that I was planing to, but he dosen't need to know that). Not only the passenger tax, but they want a cut of the casino profits too. And they want to force the ships to have eco-cops on board to monitor everything--and guess who's gonna pay for that! Alaska cruises already have a higher per diem than many others and this is only going to jack them higher. The answer of course is for everybody to go someplace else for a while until they come to their senses. Money (or in this case, the lack of it) talks!
