We had a visit from the upgrade fairy today. We booked a VH guarantee on Zuiderdam for 10/27/07 sailing; upgraded to VB6018. Anyone have any info on this room? we are first time HAL cruisers- 2nd cruise overall

Congratulations on your upgrade. The upgrade fairy seems to be busy this month. We booked an inside MM guarantee and have been moved up to an OV DA room.

Does that happen often. When we booked ours through an online site, the agent said that if I took an obstructed ocean view guarantee, chances were very good that we would get upgraded. Was she just giving me false hope or is it common?

DEM, getting upgraded from your guaranteed category is never sure thing. Sometimes it has to do with the time of year you're sailing. Getting upgraded in September, October, or the two weeks before Christmas is more likely than if you were sailing during Spring Break time, or family vacation time. Sometimes upgrades have to do with how early you book, or even how much business your travel agency does with that cruise line.

You always have to be prepared to sail in the category in which you're booked, and hope for an upgrade.
