I'm looking at prices for Holland America dn although it's supposed to be a more luxury cruise line (maybe I'm misunderstanding) the prices online seem to be not nearly as much more than the others as compared to the brochure prices. The brochure prices for Holland American seemed so much higher than royal caribbean and princess that I chucked the brochure. But now i'm wondering.... Are they really a better line? Is the service/food/amenities any better?

Well, as far of ships, we're fairly open...although I saw on another site that several of the HAL ships have different star ratings. We are trying for a seven to 9 day cruise to the eastern caribbean (or maybe southern caribbean that has some stops at places like Dominica or St. Lucia or Martinique). We want to go in November. I like princess' anytime dining, but if we can get more "perks" on a HAL trip for the same money (and maybe better rooms/balconies?) than perhaps we should be looking at that level.

I have been on both Holland America and Princess and i think that everything, yes, everything, the entertainment, food, service, service, and service, are so much more superior on HAL.

However don't look at brochure pricing, go to Orbitz, Expedia, or some other online agency to get real pricing. They are a bit more expensive, however, worth every penny.

Grand Princess 12/05
HAL Zuiderdam 07/05
Caribbean Princess 08/04

Go to Cruise Value Center web site. I have booked 7 cruises with them and for HAL cruises are the least expensive. As far as Royal Caribbean and Celebrity try only fun vacations. They somehow still work with us regarding price!

HAL cabins tend to be larger. Service and food is top notch.
