for excursions does one need to bring their own beach towels from home or can you bring one from the ship?

On the last HAL cruise I was on, there were pool/beach towels being checked out as we were exiting the ship, and then checked them back in when returning. Unless you are planning on staying over at your point of debarkation, there is no reason to overload your baggage with a pool/beach towel.
