Yahoo! Drinkin' Heineken and dancin' my new Dutch Doc Dance; just got my docs from Holland America for the upcoming Veendam Baltic cruise. A lot later than I'm use to; but there's something about getting that great big currier-delivered package--it's a lot more fun than e-docs.
I just wonder if anybody will find me over here in the HAL forum (??).

Expanding your horizons I see. Congrats on the doc dance. Pretty nice ticket packet huh? I think you'll enjoy the experience. Let us know how things go and give us the comparison when you get back. I value your opinion.
I'm really looking forward to this, not only as a new cruise experience, but also because I've never been to this part of the world before. I just need to follow Dave's sage advice and keep my expectations reasonable--but if HAL blows me away, that's fine with me!

Joe Tex! You truly do have eclectic taste. Been some time since I've heard his name mentioned. I was in a band in 1967 that did a lot of his material and it was FUN!

We loved our one and only HAL cruise -- it was on Maasdam, Canada/New England in 2004.
I am usually not a buffet person, yet I frequented the one on Maasdam. The bread pudding with vanilla sauce is not to be missed. Come to think of it, I even enjoyed the oatmeal. Strange to remember something like that three years later.
Not at all strange; my wife loved the oatmeal at the breakfast buffet on Island Princess; I'm more of a lox and bagel person but that's what makes it fun--something for everyone.

I'm doing my doc dance for you, please let us know how the Baltic compares and what your impressions of HAL are. I wasn't that impressed, the ship was clean and the service was great, but the food wasn't that good to me. It just didn't wow me like Princess. Have a wonderful time!
F-mattox, I wanted to see itinerary etc. about your HAL cruise but by now your tickers are gone. When do you leave, with which ship, where are you heading to ... ?
