There is an amazingly good deal for this ship for a 10 day Mexican Riviera sailing RT from San Diego that includes Thanksgiving week. However, it seems to me that the Ryndam has had much more than its share of noro outbreaks, and I am more than a bit concerned about this. What do you (especially those of you who are TAs) think?

I'm not a TA, but I'd say book it. Just make sure to wash your hands often and use the hand sanitizer. Since my immune system is compromised from chemo, I've been taking along the travel packs of Clorox wipes and go over the door knobs, fixtures, light switches, etc. So far, knock on wood, I haven't been hit with the noro. I also wash my hands constantly, but do that no matter where I am. Have a great cruise!

I agree with Penny. Don't forget that noro is brought onboard by a passenger(s) that have it. It's not part of the ship.

Penny is exactly right that the responsibility to keep noro away from you is yours.

Just as an interesting sidelight, I received notice today that 400 people were sickened by noro virus in a water park in New York State, and that an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica was closed because of a noro outbreak.

Noro isn't just a cruise ship problem, although cruise ships are the only venue obligated by law to report outbreaks. They are common to schools, nursing homes, jails, hotels, and resorts, among many other places.
