My family and I will be cruising the Zuiderdam in Oct. and we have been reading the reviews. The reviews make us a little worried. For example, I read one that stated that zuiderdam does not have a sail away party! Sail away parties are part of the excitement! I can't imagine a cruise ship not having anything like that! Please tell me if this is true and anything else about the Zuiderdam. Thanks so much!!
Keller - which October cruise will you be on? We are on the 10/28 Zuiderdam. Maybe we'll see you there or leaving?? I can't tell you about a "sail away" party - this is our 3rd HAL, but our first Zuiderdam and first Carribbean. If your prior cruise experience is Disney, you will find HAL different - definitely no Minnie or Goofy.. - and definitely not as many children as on a Disney cruise.
We are scheduled to be on the 10/28 Zuiddy. We are taking my In-Laws for their 50th Anniversary. After many cruises on several lines, HAL was a "no-brainer" especially for something rhis special. Hope to see you onboard.....

Grumpy - - - Hope to see you aboard... it's hard to believe we're down to a month to go. It's been a long year since we booked! I'm with you on appreciating the HAL experience. This will be our 5th cruise and 3rd with HAL. Congrats to your in-laws on their 50th ---
We were on the Zuiderdam August 05, and yes there was a sail away party. It was at the very back pool, not the main pool. We would not have known if we had not already been back there waiting for the ship to leave port.
I learned not to believe what you read in reviews on the cruise chat, the bad stuff anyway. I read all kinds of horror stories about the Ryndam and not one of them was true. Our sail away party on the Oosterdam was at the main Lido deck pool but the one on the Ryndam was on the back of the ship by the outside pool. Whomever said there wasnt a sail away party probably didnt go looking for it other than on the Lido deck. Have a great time!
