We're hoping to book several segments on this cruise but our travel agent tells us that HAL won't assign a cabin until we check in because we're not taking the whole cruise. Sounds too iffy to us - sort of like the Southwest Airlines model. Has anyone done this & what was the outcome?
Oh man, that is a tough one. They are obviously holding cabin assignments in the favor of passengers taking the full world cruise so they do not have to change cabins. Are they willing to confirm a category? If so, then it shouldn't be too bad other than the fact that someone taking the entire world cruise will certainly select the best available cabin leaving only the less desirerable for those taking only segments.

Tom, we are seriously considering bagging HAL & booking the Silversea one instead. The cost is double but we can book the 4 segments we want in advance. We are concerned about the fellow passengers being a little "stuffy". What do you know about that?
