We are booked to sail out of Miami in January and have a reservation to stay the night before departure at LaQuinta Inn Tamarac East in Ft. Lauderdale. I believe this was previously a Baymont Hotel. The address is 3800 W. Commercial Blvd.
My question is: Can anyone shed light on the area surrounding this hotel? I am more concerned about the neighborhood than the condition of the hotel itself.
Any feedback regarding this facility or surrounding area woulde be appreciated.
Well, Tamarac is a far piece from Port of Miami. (About 45 miles). The area is mainly residential, however, there are restaurants on St. Rd. 84 and Commercial Boulevard. It's a decent area, but inland from the ocean about 10-12 miles. Are y'all renting a car? Not much to do out there, except go in the pool at the hotel.
To answer your questions, we are driving the Miami from the New Orleans area and will be on the road the day before. The 45 minute drive to the port does not bother us since we don't plan on doing anything in Miami that night other than sleep.
We chose that one because of the rates....MUCH cheaper than others. Methinks the rates around area are high at that time because of the Super Bowl???
It's not a 45 minute drive, it's about 45 miles. The reason the rates are high, it's the heighth of the season in Florida. As long as you're going to have a car, you can get around to restaurants. Best wishes!
