Is there any way to take a ferry or something from Seattle to Anchorage? We have free tickets on southwest so I was just wondering if I could get from seattle to AK cheaply?

Cruise ships run on one way sailings from Seattle to Seward or Whittier pier, a couple of hours from Anchorage. But that's not a ferry, it's a 7 day cruise to get there.

Cheers, Neil

Alaska is farther then people realize. It is 4,500 driving miles from Seattle to Anchorage. Nautical miles may be a little less, but that would be one heck of a long ferry ride.

I need to edit my own post. I gave you RT mileage. So it is about 2,250 one way to drive....still a long ferry ride though. Sorry for the mis-information there.

As the crow flies, it is 1400 miles from Seattle to Anchorage. I'd like to see a ferry boat make that trip in one day. Assuming an astounding average speed of 20 knots for a ferry (not likely) it would take 3 days at best.

Are you the guy who called in here where I work last week and asked for a 3 day cruise to Hawaii from the west coast because you're tired of Ensenada?
