Staying one night post cruise in Venice in October and looking for a hotel with eash access as I don't want to drag our suitcases up/down a number of bridges. A number of hotels have been mentioned on this site Locanda O, BW Ala, Hotel Canaletto Saturnia to name a few but it's not clear about access from the ship or to the airport. It sounds like the water taxi is the best way but also rather expensive and is only appropriate if the hotel has a boat stop. So any ideas from experienced Venice travellers?

... the link to the hotel "Il Mercante di Venecia":

Look on the map

to find your hotel. Find it, wehn you "drive" your mouse to the stars. It is sitiated direct below the "C" from <C.Riello> . OK?

@ Straller

Around the P. Roma you will find some other hotels:

Choose one, if you do not want to take your luggage some meters. The P. Roma is the "terminal" for the shuttle buses from the airport.
Habe a nice day in Venice, my favorite town in Europe.

Hi,
first of all here is a link to the port map of Venice.

http://www.vtp.it/pages/navi/mappaCrociere.jsp

The Piazzale Roma is the last big place, where buses and taxis and so on can drive. From there you can get the shuttle to your ship or go by taxi. From the P. Roma you can go by a public waterbus (vaporetto) Linea 1 for one stop to the main station (S. Lucia), marked on the top of the map. From there you have some 200 meters to the hotel "Mercante di Venecia".
I stayed there for some times, friends too. It is a small but "great" hotel hotel. I am looking for a link. Until later

If you want to spend a little more money, than have a look to the Hotel Principe. It is situated directly at the Canal Grande , the Statione S. Lucia and the stop of the vaporettos:

You must definitely consider the Europa Regina - it is on the Grand Canal with it's own dock. I've been to Venice numerous times, stayed there and I love it. Friendly, helpful staff and just steps from Piazza San Marco and Harry's Bar.

Hi

We have stayed a few times at hotel Olimpia, it has a boat stop from the airport, also to the port and costs us roughly depending on the time of year around $170 the other hotels mentioned are very nice but for 1 night I think $300-500 is way too much. depends on what you consider to be important, personally I would rather save my money towards my next cruise Smile

Hello

We will be arriving at the Piazza Roma in Venice prior to our cruise in late October 2006. RCCl has informed me that they will not provide a shuttle bus from the Piazza Roma to the Stazione Marrittma (cruise terminal)even for their passengers. My question is this...can you walk from the Piazza Roma to the cruise terminal? If it is two minutes by taxi (as I have been told) then surely it cannot be very far to walk. My wife and I have suitcases that we can handle relatively easily. Please let me know if there are barriers, or no sidewalks, or it is unsafe to walk in this area.

Thanks,

Fred

Hi Fred,
look here on this map:
http://www.vtp.it/pages/navi/mappaCrociere.jsp
You will find the Piazzale Roma on the right hand. To reach the terminal, you have to go first in direction northwest (you can see the road on the map), than left in direction south west. The way is not comfortable. You better take a cab. We did so too. It is not expensive. About € 5.
Regards
Uwe
