We will Cruising from Rome in 2006 and intend to spend 3 nights in that city prior to the cruise. Is anyone able to suggest a reasonably priced and centrally located Hotel, convient for exploring Rome. There are lots on the Web sites but its difficult to know which would be right...word of mouth from other cruisers is always best

Hi- I am also going on a cruise from Rome july 2006. I am booked at a budget place called Centre1 but haven't stayed there before. It sounds ok only but the price and location are good. There are a million to pick from dont'you find and i've looked at lots and ended up with this one that my travel agent suggested. hope that helps a little. kim b`
www.hotelquirinale.it click on the british flag for english. hotel is on via nazionale, which is walking distance to many attractions. the key is that the hotel is one block from a train station (which in turn is one stop from termini station, which connects to both train lines) and a kick ass gelato shop. prices are not cheap, around USD$150 per night, but you get what you pay for here.
May I recommend the Roma Dei Papi Hotel? Located in the Piazza Adriana 5, in the heart of Rome just in front of S, Angels Castle, few steps from St-Peters-Vatican, the Spanish steps or Trevi´s Fontain. Twin roms (bed + breakfast including all taxes) € 139/ $ 165 per room per night. Link: http://rome.gtahotels.com/hotels/roma_dei_papi_hotel.ht...428091&sort=0&Page=0 Best regards Uwe
We stayed last year at the Albergo del Senato which is about as centrally located as you can get. It is located right next to the Pantheon. The hotels url is: http://www.albergodelsenato.it/home.html The price is a bit high but the location can't be beat with a good breakfast also.
