I am really getting frusterated, I booked my own airline tickets because they were less than half the cost carnival was offering me. Well my vacation planner just advised me that they no longer sell the transfers from the Hobby to the ship, just from Bush. Now I don't know how we are going to get to the ship. Any suggestions, Please help. We have 10 people and about 20 pieces of luggage.

Don't panic! At the taxi stand will be numerous "airport limo" type vans that will take you there, and probably less expensive than the cruise line shuttle. If you don't see one, just ask the taxi stand who will call for one. You could always check the yellow pages for taxi or airpoprt limo and call ahead just to be safe. You can make return arangements with whoever you ride down with..they may ask for prepayment, but use a credit card. They are reliable and will show back up to get you after the cruise!

Look in the Ports and Hotels section of Chruise Chat.. there were discussions on Galveston from Hobby not too long ago. I think someone said they rented an enterprise car and droppped it off in Galveston for much less then the cost of the cruise shuttle. With 10 people figuring $65 a piece for the cruise shuttle, that's $650 you can easily rent 3 SUVs from enterprise or AVIS for half of that.. just make sure you do so before hand and get a confirmation number.

As far as the airfare booked through the cruise line, I have got to the point where I don't even bother asking what their price is and go straight to the airline fo rmy air travel. It always seems to cost half when you buy the tix direct.

At taxi from Hobby to Carnival Dock is $45.00 and from Intercontinental is $145.00.

The porter that brought our luggage to the shuttle today told us this was the cost so don't quote me as to it being exact.

Thanks to everyone for all the info. I am somewhat lost in all this, however getting better! I have done some research and found this.. For 10 people and about 20 pieces of luggage we can travel in a 15 pass. van for $169.00 one way or $298.00 round trip. Anyone needing this info you can call 832-607-8495. I don't know anything about this company except that it is the cheapest I found. Hope this helps!

Hello,

$298.00 round trip for ten people from Hobby to the Galveston pier is reasonable. As a back up Enterprise serves this market with one way rentals between Hobby and the pier in Galveston. So, if there are any problems, contact Enterprise and they should be able to help you if your plan A doesn't work.

Hope that you have a wonderful cruise.

Fred
