hello,

Any suggestions on a park and stay hotel in San Diego. I would like to stay on March 26, the night before our 11 day cruise on the Mercury and leave my car at this hotel. Or, does anyone know of inexpensive parking within walking (or a shuttle) to and from the ship?

Thanks,

Fred

Hi Fred,
Off the top of my head, I do not recall any hotels that offer a cruise parking package, but there are a number of Park and Ride facilities nearby that offer free shuttle service to the pier on a regular basis. I believe the cost is $11 a day and some offer weekly packages. (http://www.parkandrideinc.com).

Nancy,

Thanks for responding,

We live about two hours north of San Diego. I looked at all of the options to get my wife and I to and from the San Diego Cruise Terminal(Amtrak, Metrolink, hotels, parking , and even flying to San Diego from the Ontario California Airport). The best option for me, is to rent a car one way to San Diego and then a one way rental to get us home. Most of the car rental agencies have one way rentals and the prices are reasonable. The car rental agencies are within several blocks of the cruise terminal so that you can drop your luggage and passengers, and take a free shuttle back to the terminal.

Other advantages to renting a car is that you can do some last minute shopping if neceassary, and you do not have to worry about your car being stolen or a dead battery.

I hope that you have many more great cruises and the happiest of holidays.

Fred
