The Pier 66 Bar & Grill has great food and it sits on the intracoastal. The water taxi stops at Pier 66. It's $10/pp for the entire day. You can get off at one of the Las Olas stops for some shopping and cafes. If you take the taxi to it's furthest stop (north), there is a restaurant there called Charlie's Crab that has wonderful food. I enjoy going to Bahia Mar and walking around looking at all the fabulous yachts (that's a stop for the water taxi as well). The Sea Watch Restaurant is in north Lauderdale, actually they used to have the mailing address of Pompano Beach. It has great food and is right on the ocean. Hugh Taylor Birch State Park is another stop on the water taxi route, you can walk around there and hop across the street to the ocean. There are plenty of clubs and shops along A1A (including the Elbow Room). You will need to take a cab, bus or water taxi to get there from Pier 66. The Galleria shopping complex is on Sunrise Boulevard. You might want to check to see if there is a play or show you'd like to see at the War Memorial Auditorium or perhaps at one of the dinner theaters there. Hope this helps a little.
