We have decided to fly into Vancouver the day before our Alaskan cruise in May. We will arrive in the late morning and our ship departs 5:30pm the next day. My husband booked the Fairmont (not the waterfront) without any research. I am now wondering if there is a better choice. Has anyone stayed there? How is the location for exploring Vancouver? What do we do with our luggage after checkout? Any input on the hotel or Vancouver will be appreciated.

Hello, we are also flying out the day before to Vancouver and we have book the Pan Pacific thru Princess. Due to this they let you stay until 2 in your room if you want, plus they will make sure your luggage gets to the ship. I know it's expensive, but it's right at the dock and easly to get to the ship. The rooms are very nice.
I hope that this helps you a bit.

If you mean the Fairmont Vancouver then you are staying at a beautiful hotel right in the heart of downtown and in the middle of shopping and tourist attractions.
You are only about 6 blocks from the cruise ship terminal so a short cab ride or a downhill walk if you don't have a lot of bags.

The Fairmont is Vancouver's original luxury hotel that has been renovated many times and is usually the choice for visiting royalty and many other celebrities.

Have a great stay.

Fairmont Vancouver is a lovely old hotel in the centre of the city. A grand old lady that has been beautifully renovated. The sister hotel the Fairmont Waterfront is (as you might guess) on the waterfront. It's newer hotel with a different feel but the most unbelieveable views across the harbour. Either location is fabulous . We live in Vancouver and recommend either to friends coming into town. Enjoy our beautiful city !

There is also the Fairmont Airport. Check the address to make sure it's the Fairmont Vancouver, which as others have said, is right downtown.
