After arriving in Venice by air, we will need to get to our hotel for one night and then to the Stazione Marittima the next day to catch the ship. Does anyone know whether the Venice Card Blu includes transport on Alilaguna to Stazione Marittima? That could make the cost worthwhile, otherwise I would think the ACTV travel card for 48 hours would be more cost effective! Thank you.

As I recall (and my recollections are not always correct) you can pay an extra charge for the Venice Card that will than include bus transportation from the airport to the Piazole Roma. From there you can use the vaporetto, keeping in mind that you will be carrying your luggage. The only problem is that the add-on cost to add the airport to town transportation is a break-even propostion as opposed to just buying the bus fare. As to transport to the port, again you can use the vaporetto, but it does leave you with a walk. All this is fine as long as you can handle your luggage..keeping in mind that you might have to lift it up over some steps. I should also add a personal observation. The best way to see Venice is to simply walk. The vaporettos are useful for getting from one part of town to the other, but you do see a lot more by just walking the narrow streets. Unless you are planning to use vaporettos to go to places like Burano, Murano and Lido, those passes are not always a good investment. We once bought Venice passes, and hardly ever used the things...so it would have been cheaper to just pay for a couple of vaporetto rides.

In your case forget the Venice Card Take the bus from the airport to the Piazzale Roma. Than buy the ACTV travel card for 48 hours. Be sure, that you can handle your luggage. on the vaporettos there is small space for you and your luggage. The Venice Card ist much too expensive .
While this will probably be of no help to you others may like to know that the Hotel Bologna is an excellent hotel. This hotel is right across the street from Mestre's train station, and the train ride is about 10 minutes to Venice's Santa Lucia Station. The Hotel is part of the Best Western organization and is really a terrific value
A tip...ride the vaporetto at night up the Guideca Canal and then down the Grand Canal. There are seats up front and these seats are outside (this is a wonderful experience, to see Venice lit up at night).
Check with your cruise line as there are some cruise lines which provide a shuttle bus from the Piazza Roma in Venice to the Venice cruise terminals.
What is a good way to get to the cruise ship terminal from the city after we spend the night? (We are on our own so there is no cruise line sponored transport available to us.) It looks like we can take a vaporetto back to the bus station (Piazzale Roma)and then walk? Thanks for any help!

Yes, you can take a vaporetto to Piazzale Roma. There you may catch a taxi (about five euros) to the cruise center. Sure you can walk, but this is not an easy walking with your luggage. Regards Uwe
