We are spending a few extra days in Jacksonville/Daytona Beach before our cruise -

Is this area anything like Miami and South Beach?

I'm looking for a good hotel close to the beach?

And the best way to get around? If it's a little slow then Miami I wouldn't mind renting a car.

This is our first time in this area.

What is the one thing I need to do while we are there?
