I am taking the Crown Princess in October/November for her repositioning cruise to San Juan for the winter. There are actually 3 couples going and we usually go down a couple of days ahead of time to unwind before getting on a cruise ship. Since this cruise departs from NY and we are all from Massachusetts we have decided to pass on that and just head to NYC that morning.

Since we aren't using that time we have decided it would be nice to spend 3 days in San Juan before heading back here to the start of winter. I have stayed in San Juan before at the Caribe Hilton and the Marriott for a one-night pre-cruise thing and at the El Conquistador when I went down for vacation. Another friend has suggested the El San Juan Resort as a possible place to stay. Has anyone stayed there that could offer an opinion or compare it to any of the SJ hotels I have stayed in before? If it's just one day I never care where I stay as long as it's clean but for 3 days we want something with a nice pool area - preferably with a bar or bar service by the pool, a beach, etc.

Thank you for any help or advice!!

We stayed at the Condado Plaza Hotel and Casino, granted this was a few years ago, but it was really nice. We were close to old San Juan, which is great for shopping and touring. At the time we stayed, I would have rated it at least 3 stars, closer to 4. Hopefully someone will have more recent information for you. Enjoy your cruise!!
