We're thinking about renting a car at Orlando Airport for our Disney Cruise out of Cape Canaveral. Which rental company would be best as far as dropping the car off near the port and shuttle transportation to the port.
They are mostly the same. Non of the rental companies have a drop off point at the cruise terminal. You will have to pass the ship and go into Coca Beach to drop of the car for most of the rental companies. BUT, the major companies will shuttle you to/from the ship too as their business is pretty much made up of cruisers doing this.
We used AVIS and they were reasonable. Your real question should be, which rental companies have pick up points inside MCO? Avis and Hertz are right there across the street from the luggage pickup, Some of the other companies require you to take a shuttle bus outside the airport to pick up your car. Not a big deal, but with lots of luggage, maybe a bigger hassle.
I know Avis and Hertz do this, the others you will have to call and ask.

My understanding is that Disney Cruiselines has a great program where you take a bus from MCO to the port taking only your carry on bags with you. When you check in at your departure airport your bags go directly to the Disney ship saving you LOTS of hassle. We cruise out of Canaveral lots and don't remember seeing any rental car drop offs. I know there are some in Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach but why hassle with the luggage and shuttle service from the rental place when you can take a bus ride? The Disney buses are really cute and very comfy.
Sorry!! Read your next post and see that you want to spend some time in the area before getting on the ship. I know the Radisson has a shuttle service right to the port and it may even have a rental car kiosk as it caters to lots of tourists. Haven't stayed there but have been inside, really nice hotel with great service. You do know it isn't on the beach don't you? The beach is only a short drive down A1A, you might want to check out the Cocoa Beach Pier for lunch/dinner. You can eat outside and are right over the ocean.
