We are spending 3 days in Orlando and then driving to Miami for our cruise. People have said that you can rent a car and drop it off somewhere else with no drop off fees but I am not finding that the case. I found deals for $14.00 per day but then the total is $155.00 for 3 days. They are charging about $100.00 drop off fee. Some quote $60.00 per day with no drop off fee. If you have done this and found a good deal please let me know. My son said he rented a car in Miami and drove it to Tampa and only paid $33.00 total for one day. Confused

The drop off fee may be because you are dropping it off in Miami 9or it may be WHERE in Maimi you are dropping it off). I have rented in Orlando and dropped it off in Port Canveral and vice vers with no fees.

Have you tried other rental companies?

I don't get it! I told everyone in our group there qould not be any drop off fees at least with some of the companies but I am shocked to find the cheapest we can get is $150.00 for an economy car for 3 days picking up in Orlando and dropping off in Miami. I will keep looking but I am not too optomistic? There is a total of 20 of us and 12 of us have to get to Miami somehow. To rent a van is over $300.00. I really thought we would rent a few cars for a total of $100.00 or so. Boy was I wrong! Confused

SanDee- I'm sorry you are finding this now. Its the 3 days that is killing you. I went to the rental company website and put in a three day rental to both MIA and Cocoa Beach Florida and the rates were the same (About $150). And there was no drop off fee that I saw. It was only $36 for a one day rental

Jim I did find rental agencies with no drop off fees but for a full size car the rental price is $60.00 per day. Other companies offered the same car for $14.00 per day but with a $99.00 drop off fee so it all works out the same. We will pay between $150.00 and $200.00 for a 3 day rental dropping off in Miami. Not a big deal to me but having read posts on here where people said they rented a car one place and dropped it off at another for $25-$30.00 was what I based it on. I just assumed others in our party would get a car for $30.00 a day and no fees.

Coming back we will rent a shuttle and shuttle everyone to Ft Lauderdale. I thought renting cars would be cheaper but it works out about the same and this way the driver knows exactly where he is going and we do not have to hassle with picking up and returning the rental cars. ThumbUp

If you find out who rents a vehicle in Florida for $25-$30 a day, I sure want to know the company. I've never found anything less that $56/day in Ft. Lauderdale. Best wishes and have a great time!

penny3333....Sonny said he paid less than $30.00 and dropped it off at a different location. I found several that quoted $14.00 a day. Great price as long as you return it to the same place. I am not going to complain about $150.00 or $175.00 for 3 days when I am driving it to Miami. I just was under the impression it would be alot cheaper. Maybe it depend on the time of year or what's going on at that time. Wave

Must be the time of the year, or maybe Ft. Lauderdale is just high priced for daily rentals. The last time we rented one through Budget for 1 day it was $85. I told them I didn't want to buy the car, just rent it. They didn't even smile.
