We did alaska 2 summers ago on Princess. We did the tracy arm itinerary. I want to go back for another alaska cruise, to see glaciers calving. RCCL only goes to Hubbard glacier, and princess goes to glacier bay. What are your thoughts, as to which is better/prettier, more iceberg calving? We don't care which cruise line we go with, either one is fine. Any thoughts appreciated. Wink Lil' Lori

Glacier Bay is known for having the most calving.

We just did the Zaandam HAL, it does Glacier Bay and Tracy Arm. It runs out of Vancouver. We enjoyed the ship, and the entertainment, not the service personel or the food.
You can check my prior post for more information.

BTW we did the Sun Princess out of Seattle, it does the Tracy Arm thing. Thought the food was better, had better food, but the Zaandam is a better ship.

Lil' Lori I felt we saw quiet a few, maybe a dozen. I could never get a picture of them falling, but they were. We really enjoyed the trip.
With that said we plan on doing Hubbard Glacier next year.
I am working on my cruise photos and will post more later.
Have you cruised HAL before? We just got an email offer. !2 days Inside Cabin, Inside passage from Vancouver ending in San Diego I think. $899.00 pp.
Here is the link

I have done Hubbard, as well as Glacier Bay, to me Glacier Bay was by far the greatest.

Greyson-is glacier bay overall bigger do you think than hubbard. Why do you think glacier bay was the greatest? Just curious, trying to decide. Wink Lil' Lori

We were at Hubbard Glacier several days ago, and also saw a lot of calving. We were able to get quite close to the glacier, too. We were told by staff that that was the closest the ship had been all season. The previous week it was too foggy to go close or to see anything from the ship. We were lucky.

We got closer to the glaciers in Glacier Bay, and we witnessed a lot more calving. You could see some calving at Hubbard, but you were a lot closer in Glacier Bay and the calving was much more spectacular in my opinion. Because Glacier Bay is near the land more, we even saw bears up on the hillside.

We did the Glazier Bay with Princess. Just fantastic. Totally amazing and saw calving where we didn't on another cruise up there and just went into Tracy Arms.
