My wife and I are going to Alaska for the 1st time. We are both 40 and enjoy just about anything. We are stopping in Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway aboard Princess Island. Can anyone let us know if they did the following and how it was: Ketchikan - Rain forest wildlife, Exclusive Flightseeing & Crab Fest. Juneau - Glacier and Salmon Bake combo, Glacier Bike & Brew, Whale watching & wildlife quest, glacier flightseeing adventure. Skagway - Klondike Scenic Highlights, Yukon jeep adventure, Horseback riding, klondike bike tour, Chilkoot trail hike & float adventure. We would very much like to stay away from the korny tourist traps and really see the sights of this lovely land. We are cruising end of June through July 4th. Thanks, Chris
The flight tours are great but be aware that weather can affect whether or not they take place. Many times early morning flight tours have been canceled due to fog.
I have done many whale watches in Alaska. The ones through the cruise lines can be good but I prefer the ones through a private party, because I like the smaller boat size and the smaller crowd of people. I prefer to go with Orca Enterprises and Capt Larry in Juneau.
The salmon bakes can be quite good.
If you want other fun active type tours you may want to check into some of the kayaking or river rafting tours.
Keep in mind any flight seeing tour will be costly but well worth the money.
