Our ship is docked in Skagway from 7a.m. to 9p.m. We definitely plan to do train excursion and are debating whether to go to Haines as well. There's a special rountrip ferry/train trip for $139 but wonder whether it is worth it to go to Haines for just a few hours or not. Thinking of taking 8 or 10a.m. ferry and walk around town, perhaps short hike or bike ride and return at 1 or 2 so we can see some of Skagway before boarding 4:30 train. Any suggestions on trying to do both in 1 day. Didn't want to do more expensive group tours through our cruise line.
